WWE No Mercy 2017 Preview & Predictions

WWE No Mercy 2017

This year’s WWE No Mercy is a RAW brand pay-per-view. All five RAW championships are on the line as well. None more important, than the main event, which pits WWE Universal Champion, “The Beast” Brock Lesnar against the “Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman in a first time ever match. These two behemoths are going to tear each apart, in a good way. Not to be eclipsed, is a match that’s many years in the making. WWE’s constant for over a decade, John Cena squares off with his heir apparent in Roman Reigns. A match that could easily headline Wrestlemania, is happening on this show. Certainly a treat for anyone that tunes into the show.

Five women compete to see who can hold the belt for the incoming Asuka. Alexa Bliss defends against Emma, Nia Jax, Bayley and Sasha Banks. Good luck to whoever comes out of that scrap. The Miz and his compatriots try to teach “Kurt Angle’s Son” Jason Jordan a lesson. While Jordan tries to follow in his “father’s” footsteps and become WWE Intercontinental Champion. Plus, WWE 2K18 cover boy Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose defend the Tag Team Titles against Cesaro and Sheamus. Enzo Amore gets his first ever single’s title opportunity against Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship.

Oh yeah, and there’s the Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt storyline, which many in the audience may wish to just end. This is the W2Mnet WWE No Mercy 2017 Preview & Predictions.

An Introduction to the Article

As someone that has quite a bit of experience doing these roundtable type articles, I wanted to do this a bit differently than some others. Instead of having numerous people all give thoughts on each match, I felt it better to assign one match to each person. So, one of our staff members will give their thoughts on the match itself and predict a winner. This continues until the end of the article, when everyone gathers to give their overall thoughts on the event. – Sean Garmer

Gods Among Men

WWE No Mercy 2017

Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt

I honestly have no idea what the WWE is thinking with this one. A Finn Balor vs Bray Wyatt feud sounded like a home run on paper. The Eater of Worlds vs the Demon King is a logical rivalry. However, like most current things in the WWE, the creative team found a way to ruin it. Finn Balor becoming the Demon King should of been the “coup de gras” to end things with Bray.

Instead, he donned it in their first PPV match. So what now? Bray wants to fight the man Finn Balor? Why wouldn’t Bray want to get revenge against the Demon King and show he is the ruler of the underworld? It just doesn’t make sense. Their match at Summerslam was underwhelming and I expect this match to go the same way. Bray probably wins this match so that the WWE can continue this disappointing feud. – Angel Gonzalez

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Other Staff Member Predictions: Sean Paul & Harry: Finn Balor. Patrick & Tom: Bray Wyatt.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

WWE No Mercy 2017

(Champion) Neville vs. Enzo Amore

The move to 205 Live has been a positive one for Enzo Amore. He gets crowd reactions, he adds another person that has a character and can carry a feud on the microphone. However, he’s not someone that can really hang in the ring with the talent on that roster. Enzo getting a titleshot this quickly isn’t surprising, but in no way, should he win. Not only is a bad look to the rest of the 205 Live talent, but it doesn’t make sense storyline wise. This feud could go for quite a few PPV’s for the Cruiserweights and so Neville should retain.

There’s always the chance Enzo could win with some help. He could also win on some kind of fluke, but those types of decisions would hurt everyone involved. Let’s hope the King continues to reign. – Sean Garmer

Winner AND STILL CHAMPION: Neville

Other Staff Member Predictions: Paul, Patrick & Tom: Neville. Harry & Angel: Enzo Amore.

RAW Tag Team Championship Match

WWE No Mercy 2017

(Champions) Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro & Sheamus (The Bar)

It’s hard to see any other outcome, than the champions retaining. Especially, with how Rollins and Ambrose have won the belts. Honestly, it feels like The Bar’s time is up in terms of tag team gold. Ultimately, it sucks, because they finally just got their first shirt in the shop. If Sheamus and Cesaro pull off the win, expect another tag title match at TLC. But, I highly doubt they’re able to do that. – Patrick Ketza

Winners AND STILL CHAMPIONS: Rollins & Ambrose

Other Staff Member Predictions: Everyone else also picked: Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

WWE No Mercy 2017

(Champion) The Miz w/ Maryse & Miztourage vs. Jason Jordan

Jason Jordan has earned this match after winning a six pack challenge on the go home Raw. Here’s my biggest thing about this match: You have arguably the most over character in the Fed currently defending a title against one of the worst storylines in history. I’m picking the Miz in this one simply because I hate the Jordan storyline. He’s an incredible athlete that needed something, but not this particular something. Plus Miz is fire on the mic and has been the most entertaining thing on Raw for weeks. No need to take the title off of him here. – Tom M. John

Winner AND STILL CHAMPION: The Miz

Other Staff Member Predictions: Paul, Sean & Angel: The Miz. Patrick & Harry: Jason Jordan.

RAW Women’s Championship Match

WWE No Mercy 2017

Fatal Five Way: (Champion) Alexa Bliss vs. Emma vs. Nia Jax vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

What a cluster this has been. Originally, this was slated to be rematch, has been thrown into chaos. All in an attempt to make it look like everybody in the division can compete. So when Asuka comes, it’s not just her rolling nobodies. As much as I enjoy Emma’s work, we know she doesn’t have a prayer here. And I think the same could be said for Sasha, who WWE seems to have penciled as a bridesmaid for life, with the her seeming inability to hold onto the championship.

I also question whether Bayley should have been tossed into the picture again, so soon after her return. Dare I say maybe another month away would have been better to let people try to forget what she had been doing beforehand. That leaves Nia, who I wonder if the WWE wants her to win here to have the strongest opposition in the way of Asuka when she gets here, or if they leave the division in the safe hands of Alexa. So people get the joy of watching the resident jerk get what’s hers. I’m gonna lead towards Alexa retaining here, and sneaking in to get the victory some how. – Paul Leazar

Winner AND STILL CHAMPION: Alexa Bliss

Other Staff Member Predictions: Sean: Bayley. Angel: Emma. Patrick, Harry & Tom: Alexa Bliss.

The GUY vs. The Big Dog

WWE No Mercy 2017

John Cena vs. Roman Reigns

A feud that has seen a lot of trash talk, now has the future hall of famer John Cena against WWE’s GUY. Can the part-timer put The Big Dog down for the count? Or is it time for the rise of Reigns to go through the invisible one?

This feels like it is meant as a one and done for a John Cena that has other things to do. Leaving things to Roman Reigns getting a big victory and then making fun of Cena for leaving again. In the ring, at least a very good match should be on display, but considering how both men bring it in big match situations, this could be a memorable one. It surely will get the time to at least attempt this feat. Either way, Roman is taking this one. – Sean Garmer

Winner: Roman Reigns

Other Staff Member Predictions: Everyone else also picked: Roman Reigns.

MAIN EVENT: WWE Universal Championship Match

WWE No Mercy 2017

(Champion) Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman vs. Braun Strowman

Brock has been the most protected and dominant performer in a long time. Braun is arguably the most popular guy on the roster currently, despite being a heel. Every one loves an ass kicker. Braun has dominated the build to this match, which both intrigues and concerns me. It intrigues me because Braun is the one guy on the roster I could see taking the belt from Brock clean. It concerns me because the last person to dominate Brock was Goldberg and we saw how that story ended at Wrestlemania.

That said, I think the time has come to pull the trigger here. I think Braun gets the belt here and you can have Brock come back and get it back at the Rumble if the plan for Mania remains the same. Otherwise, the fans are naturally into Strowman. Time to take advantage of that. – Harry Broadhurst

Winner AND NEW CHAMPION: Braun Strowman

Other Staff Member Predictions: Everyone else also picked: Braun Strowman.
