Sam Raimi Spider-Man Series Review

Sean Comer, (briefly) Jeff Harris and Mark Radulich present their Sam Raimi Spider-Man Series Review!

With Spider-Man No Way Home (2021 Marvel/Sony) in theaters this week we’re looking back at all things Spider-Man!

Spider-Man, is a fictional character portrayed by Tobey Maguire that was based on the comic book character of the same name. He was adapted for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man film in 2002, later appearing in two sequels, video games and a television series designed to be set within that continuity, in which he was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris.

Other stars include Willem Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Cliff Robertson, and Rosemary Harris. The films center on outcast teen genius Peter Parker who develops spider-like superhuman abilities after being bitten by a genetically-altered spider and decides to use his newfound powers to fight crime as Spider-Man.

Spider-Man premiered at the Mann Village Theater on April 29, 2002, and was released in the United States four days later on May 3. The film received positive reviews from audiences and critics. It was the first film to reach $100 million in a single weekend as well as the most successful film based on a comic book at the time. With a box office gross of over $821.7 million worldwide, it was the third highest-grossing film of 2002, the highest-grossing superhero film and the sixth highest-grossing film overall at the time of its release. Spider-Man is credited for redefining the modern superhero genre, as well as the summer blockbuster. After its success, the film spawned two sequels, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, released in 2004 and 2007 respectively.

About Radulich in Broadcasting’s Beginnings

Mark Radulich has been an internet personality since 2004 with his Progressive Conservatism blog. He then took that blog to the airwaves and created a podcast for it. It then changed to PC Live. After that, he brought out the 411mania Ground and Pound Radio as well.

Also, Mark would partner up with another 411mania alum, Sean Comer, to create the movie franchise review podcast Long Road to Ruin and then Robert Cooper to create the metal album review podcast, The Metal Hammer of Doom. Robert Winfree then added his own podcast, Everybody Loves a Bad Guy. That’s when the Radulich in Broadcasting Network was born. Joining Winfree in having their own podcasts were super fan’s Jesse Starcher (Source Material). Finally, Winfree and Radulich added a weekly movie review show to the ever-growing lists of podcasts on the Network called Damn You Hollywood.
