Story

The story is intriguing with a central main bad guy in Le Docteur. The hero, a janitor at the Inkorp factory is tasked with taking him down. The story follows the regular pattern of save the survivors, and destroy the villain. Even though, he slips through your fingers to fight another time. Although this part is a little dull, it does explain the peculiarities of the game. While also giving the hero a purpose to run through the acid filled halls of the Inkorp factory. Despite the simple premise, Le Docteur does not make it easy for you. He sets up traps and opens up pools of acid. Thus making the hero cross precarious platforms and dastardly placed obstacles.

A Great Hero

The hero is one of the custodians who normally would be cleaning up ink. Instead, this protagonist cleans up the evil that inhabits Inkorp. The hero is an incredibly fast runner, and an extremely talented far jumper. And he must be to stop these machines from taking over the factory. The Hero starts the game with only his athletic skills. However, soon he stumbles upon a water blaster, which he uses to clear each level in search of Le Docteur. Later, he is equipped with both sticky and bouncy ink to use in his blaster. This allows him to clean up after the boss, and save all of the unlucky custodians who were stranded in the mazes of Inkorp.

The Levels

Throughout the levels, Le Docteur sends his lackeys and the aforementioned traps to block your way. The enemies are the experiments of the evil boss, whose sole purpose is to keep you from hurting their creator. These enemies are mechanical and most of them are vulnerable to water. When you blast them with a few drops of liquid, the weak machines explode into junk. Tougher enemies must be dealt with in other ways, which includes encasing it in sticky ink, or tricking it into running into a saw. These robots come with a variety of shapes and abilities. Some are able to fly, while others are completely immune to water.

Base Gameplay

As far as platformers go, Splasher is an incredible one. It has fast paced action and dozens of levels. It’s easily comparable to other well known platformers such as Super Meat Boy and Rayman Legends. The game is also pretty addicting. It’s a great game to speedrun as well. Getting through each level of the story mode is really an achievement in its own right. Each mission takes about 5 to 20 minutes to complete, depending on your skills. Once you complete the story, there are several Time Attack modes, where you can test and hone your skills. Do it fast enough and you will wind up on the game’s leaderboard. Good luck, there’s already some crazy fast times on there.

Pros:

Amazing Design

Addictive Gameplay

Lots of Replay Value

Cons:

Over used Plot

Game mechanics are a bit limited

No Multiplayer

Final Rating:

Overall Thoughts: 9 Out of 10. The game has stunning graphics and intriguing design that’s similar to The Behemoth‘s Castle Crashers 2. The game itself is incredible and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to platformer fans, and action lovers alike. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it. It is a fun game as a whole. But you can also boast about running times to friends. However, as fun as a game this is, it would be so much better if there was a local story and multiplayer.
