Jesse Starcher, Chris Armstrong and Mark Radulich present their The Monster Society of Evil Comic Review!

A new Captain Marvel prestige format four-issue limited series from DC Comics, Shazam! The Monster Society of Evil, written and illustrated by Jeff Smith (creator of Bone) began publication on February 7, 2007. Smith’s Shazam! miniseries, in the works since 2003, is a more traditional take on the character, returning Captain Marvel to his roots with a story set outside of the DC Universe. In this version, Mister Mind resembles a small snake, with a more threatening face sans glasses, while wearing a modern style communicator headset. Many different monsters are shown in the Society, with the Crocodile-Men being replaced with the Alligator-Men.

In Billy Batson’s very first adventure as Captain Marvel, he must try to save the world from an otherworldly threat that he inadvertently caused because of his own childlike curiosity. Not only that, he must rescue his newfound sister from the clutches of the dastardly Dr. Sivana! Join them as Source Material discusses “SHAZAM!: The Monster Society of Evil.”

About Radulich in Broadcasting’s Beginnings

Mark Radulich has been an internet personality since 2004 with his Progressive Conservatism blog. He then took that blog to the airwaves and created a podcast for it. It then changed to PC Live. After that, he brought out the 411mania Ground and Pound Radio as well.

Also, Mark would partner up with another 411mania alum, Sean Comer, to create the movie franchise review podcast Long Road to Ruin and then Robert Cooper to create the metal album review podcast, The Metal Hammer of Doom. Robert Winfree then added his own podcast, Everybody Loves a Bad Guy. That’s when the Radulich in Broadcasting Network was born. Joining Winfree in having their own podcasts were super fan Jesse Starcher (Source Material). Finally, Winfree and Radulich added a weekly movie review show to the ever-growing lists of podcasts on the Network called Damn You Hollywood.

Podcasts are one of the greatest mediums ever. 10 years ago Jesse found himself driving back and forth to work with over an hour of travel time. Talk radio became something that he enjoyed and helped kill time during the commute. The problem was NPR never stayed completely interesting and his only other options were the ESPN network and the local channel that hosted religious programming. Always the same show… at the same time. It was pretty limited. About three years ago he discovered Podcasts and it changed how he spent much of his time. It opened up options to great niche content that he never even knew was available. After that, he got his first podcast gig on the From the Cheap Seats sports podcast with Jayson Teasley and became a co-host shortly after that.
